Member's bio: Cindy Stelmackowich
Cindy Stelmackowich is an Ottawa-based artist, curator, and teacher. Born in Saskatchewan, Stelmackowich moved to Ottawa to pursue an M.A. after completing undergraduate degrees at the University of Saskatchewan. She completing a Ph.D. in the History and Theory of Art at Binghamton University, New York in 2010. Her teaching at Carleton University, her artwork and her academic research has focused on themes related to art and medical science.
Cindy has had numerous solo exhibitions in both Canada and the U.S. and has received grants from the Canada Council, the Ontario Arts Council, and the City of Ottawa. Her artwork has been featured in international art fairs and exhibitions. In 2009 she received the Mid-Career Artist Award from the Council for the Arts in Ottawa. Her artworks are in the collection of the Canada Council Art Bank, The City of Ottawa, The Ottawa Art Gallery, York University, as well as private collections.
Cindy is represented by the Patrick Mikhail Gallery in Ottawa and Montreal.
